A Deeper Way to Explore Instinctive Art & Creativity

A more spacious, guided and supported workshop for anyone wishing to explore themselves through art

FAQs

Do I need any creative or artistic experience to join a workshop?

Absolutely no experience is needed to join any of the workshops I offer, if anything not knowing the rules of traditional painting techniques, allows something more instinctive and energetic to emerge in your art.

Also some of the most meaningful art I have seen has come from people who have never created before.

What will I learn and walk away with after the workshop has finished?

You will learn how to use the materials with confidence. How different surfaces respond. How colour can reflect something back at you differently. How to build, layer and work intuitively rather than overthink.

You’ll be guided in discovering your own way of creating, and you will leave with a piece of art that is genuinely your own to take home.

And often, something more subtle. A sense of knowing yourself just a little better. A reminder that you can create, decide, explore and trust your own instincts and intuition.

What does it mean to paint instinctively?

Across cultures and throughout history, people have gathered to create, on cave walls, in ritual, in community, in celebration and in grief.

Art was never separate from life.

It was how people processed experience, honoured change and made meaning together.

Painting instinctively returns to that tradition.

Instead of planning the outcome, like you might do in another art class, here we allow your painting to unfold intuitively.

When we paint this way, we make contact with something far more meaningful in ourselves and in the art we create.

Is this like art therapy?

When we create, something happens physically as well as emotionally. Our nervous system can begin to settle. Our body can relax, and feelings can surface more safely.

For a few hours, you step out of constant doing and into a quieter state of being. The pace of the world drops away. The noise fades. You are no longer pulled by everything outside you.

Instead, you turn gently toward your own inner landscape.

And in that slower rhythm, you are able to see and feel what you might otherwise move past.

So while these sessions are not formal therapy, they can absolutely have a therapeutic role.

For some, they complement therapy. For others, they become their own way of understanding.

What if I feel nervous before coming?

Lots of people feel nervous before they arrive. And yet it’s one of the most natural things we can do. Look at how children can sit and create for hours without questioning themselves.

In some ways, that’s what we are returning to here. A place where you create without worrying what anyone else thinks. A place where you stop trying to get it right and simply allow yourself to be.

And when you experience that here, you start to realise you can do it outside this space too.

What led you to work this way?

Because I discovered after years of working in therapeutic spaces that art and can be one of the most powerful ways to know ourselves, calm ourselves, and metabolise our experiences without becoming overwhelmed by them.

When we create, something shifts. The body settles. Thoughts soften. What feels stuck begins to move.

And of course seeing people leave a workshop with art that actually has personal meaning to them, that unfolds long after the session has ended, is quite an incredible experience to have in my work.

I noticed you offer one to one sessions, why would I choose this over a workshop?

One-to-one sessions offer a quieter, more personal space.

In a workshop, you are creating alongside others. The energy is shared, often social, sometimes expansive. In a one-to-one, the space is entirely yours. The pace slows. We can follow what is emerging for you without needing to stay with the rhythm of a group.

Some people choose a one-to-one because they are moving through something specific, and exploring this privately feels more spacious.

Both offer something valuable. The question is not which is better, but which feels right for you now.

You can read more about one-to-one sessions here.

Can I come for just one session or workshop?

Of course.

You are welcome to come once and experience it for yourself.

Some people join for a single session and feel that was enough. Others realise they’ve found something they want to return to, and it becomes part of their weekly rhythm. A space to think differently. To feel differently. To create without pressure.

There is no fixed path here. Just an open door.

Come once. Or come back when you feel called to.

We are a warm inclusive space and welcome anyone who wishes to explore creativity in a more intuitive, instinctive way. You do not need any experience to learn to create this way, and everyone is welcome.
