Art Studio Whitley Bay

A psychotherapy-informed creative space for awareness, transition and personal exploration.

Many people arrive here carrying something, a life shift, anxiety that won’t settle, grief, past trauma, or simply a sense that something inside is asking for space.

My background in psychotherapy and somatic practice shapes how this space is held.

For some, it complements traditional therapy. For others, it becomes the doorway that allows something to finally move. Sometimes in silence, sometimes in reflection, always with me there to support you in noticing and holding what is unfolding.

If you are navigating any of the following then these private sessions may well be for you:

Anxiety that doesn’t seem to settle.

Grief that hasn’t fully moved.

Past trauma that still feels present in the body.

A significant life transition.

A growing sense of disconnection to yourself and others.

Emotional overwhelm that is difficult to put into words.

A desire to explore something deeper than talking therapy alone allows.

A quiet sense that something inside is ready to shift.

Why I chose to work with creativity rather than talking therapy alone

After years of working in talking therapeutic spaces, I began to notice something. Insight does not always equal movement. People can understand their patterns. They can name their history. They can analyse their experiences. And yet something still feels held in the body.

Traditional therapy can be powerful. But sometimes words circle the experience rather than shift it. I discovered that when we move beyond conversation and into creating, something different happens.

Our nervous system responds. Emotion finds form, and what has been carried internally begins to externalise and change shape.

Art allows us to meet experience directly rather than describe it from a distance. When we work this way, something deeper within us is given space to move, and what shifts internally begins to reshape how we meet the world outside.

Practical Details

Each confidential session lasts 90 minutes and is held in my private studio in Whitley Bay, just outside of Newcastle.
All materials, support and guidance are provided.

You do not need to be good at art.
And you do not need to be good at talking.
We work with whatever needs to emerge.

When we work instinctively, experience can begin to metabolise rather than remain held. What has felt circular can become visible. What has felt stuck can begin to shift.

You do not need skill.
You do not need to produce something polished.

You only need a willingness to enter the process.
Sessions can be experienced as a one-off, a short series, or an ongoing exploration.
£120 per session.

If you’ve been considering art therapy, meditation or counselling but are looking for something more embodied and spacious, this may be the right space for you.

Exploring Art as a Doorway

This isn’t an alternative to talking therapy.

It’s another way into understanding yourself, one that allows your body and nervous system to be part of the process, not just your mind.

We begin by talking a little about what’s present for you, before moving through breath and sometimes sound into a more relaxed, creative state, allowing what needs to emerge through the art.

The art-making then has space to flow instinctively, guided by sensation rather than thought.

Once the art has emerged, we reflect together on how it may be speaking to your life, and how that understanding might be integrated moving forward.

This is a confidential, one-to-one space.
No previous experience of art needed.
Nothing that arises is too much to be met.

I hold the space throughout the session, drawing on my background in therapeutic practice.

In person upstairs at OXYGENIC, Whitley Bay.
