Confinement

Zara Waters

The figure appears bound, yet the chains do not fully hold. They rest rather than restrain. The possibility of release is present, though unrealised. Tension arises not from captivity itself, but from the moment of recognising that escape may already be available.

Rather than depicting confinement as an external force alone, I feel I was exploring our internalised limits. Where fear, obligation, and the uncertainty of change become as binding as any visible chain.

What remains unresolved for me is not whether freedom is possible, but what it would require to claim it.

This piece of art was created in a time within a wider body of art exploring similar themes.
