I will love me tomorrow

Zara Waters

I will love me tomorrow,
but hate me today.
These ineffable mindfucks,
Just won’t go away.

This work sits at a default point.

The place the mind returns to when hope collapses and self-compassion feels unreachable.

It is not about a passing mood or a temporary dip. It speaks to the internal position many people come to inhabit when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, and worn down by their own thinking. A state where insight exists, but cannot be accessed. Where care is postponed. Where tomorrow becomes a promise that never quite arrives.

The figure holds awareness and loathing at the same time. The mind knows better, but knowledge offers no release. Thought loops tighten. The inner voice turns against itself, rehearsing failure, regret, and self-blame with relentless familiarity.

These ineffable mindfucks are not dramatic thoughts. They are structural. Repeating patterns that reset the system back to self-criticism whenever emotional resources run low. A place of mental exhaustion where the self becomes both witness and target.

Sometimes art does not set out to seek resolution. It is simply documenting the stickiness we feel. The heaviness of returning again and again to the same internal ground, even after growth, even after effort.

This is the psyche at its most depleted, not broken, but caught in a default that feels inescapable.

And in naming it, the work offers something quietly radical: recognition.

Because before movement is possible, the place you are standing must first be seen.

This piece of art was created in a time within a wider body of art exploring similar themes.
